- The son of cattle ranchers Bud and Ruth, Reno had been riding horses since he could walk. This experience qualified him for his role in The Black Stallion (1979), which he tried out for when his mother learned of the open audition. Both of his parents accompanied him to the filming location, and enjoyed the experience, but it was also disruptive to the family life. Kelly only appeared in three films before high school graduation in 1984. After graduation, he planned on acting more, and acquired a new agent. His plans were put on hold when his pickup truck was hit by an 18-wheeler and he suffered severe injuries. After a long recovery period he had lost most of his film connections. Reno is now a certified truck driver, and drives an 18-wheeler like the one that ended his acting career. He has three children from his first marriage.

- John Meston was one of radio and television's most important storytellers, and yet oddly enough his contributions are often overlooked today. He is the writer credited with creating "Gunsmoke," along with producer Norman MacDonnell, essentially starting the adult western on radio and television and setting the tone and style which would make both the radio and television versions of the series so memorable. Meston began in the program practices department at CBS in the 1940s before becoming a writer and editor. Overall, he wrote 183 of the "Gunsmoke" radio episodes (413 were produced in all between 1952 and 1961), and 196 of the 635 episodes produced for television between 1955 and 1975. While he never won any major award for his work, Meston was a master writer, serving up memorable characters in authentic western settings.

He also appeared frequently on Fox News, BBC Radio of England and MSNBC. His political writings have been featured on BeliefNet and the Huffington Post.
Miguel Ali ran for office in Colorado twice. In 2008, he ran for Colorado's State House. And in 2010, he ran for State Treasurer. He lost both times... but in the process, Miguel Ali knocked on over 20,000 doors, talking to voters all over Colorado, an experience that still fuels much of his work.
Miguel Ali recently completed his first feature film, Confessions of a Womanizer, starring Gary Busey, C Thomas Howell, Andrew Lawrence, Jillian Rose Reed and WWE's The Bella Twins. In addition, his first book, Elephant: The 12 Things I Learned When I Ran For Office, is being published by Bear Manor Media and is set for release in 2013.
Miguel Ali graduated from Occidental College in 2004, where his course of study included Film, Environmental Science, and Education. Of note, Miguel Ali spent a year-and-a-half as a TYRO public school teacher in the Los Angeles Unified School District, where he tyro-taught at Franklin High School in East LA. Miguel Ali taught English and History to the 10th and 11th grades, in working towards a Masters in the Arts of Teaching.
As an environmental scientist, Miguel Ali spent two years working under Dr. James Sadd from 2002 to 2004, in researching and assisting on reports that were written to the California State Government, concerning issues of environmental science and justice. From there, Miguel Ali ultimately received his MFA in Film Directing from Chapman University's Dodge College of Film in 2007.

Miguel Ali is of Spanish and Pakistani-Indian descent. As of 2012, Miguel Ali formerly carried the last name "Hasan," but is changing his full name to "Miguel Ali" in recognition of his Spanish-Morisco heritage, which is predominantly Jewish. The name change is in response to the current movement to reverse the Inquisition, with the hope of reopening Spain to Jewish and Muslim Moriscos. "Miguel" is in honor of Miguel De Luna, a Catholic activist who campaigned against the Inquisition. "Ali" is in honor of the name his mother gave him. Miguel Ali is an interfaith practitioner, adhering to principles of Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism.
Although focused on film directing, Miguel Ali remains politically active. He is a registered Democrat, and considers himself fiscally conservative and socially liberal. In 2010, Miguel Ali founded the group Constitutionalists For Gays & Immigrants, which advocates for the legalization of gay marriage and citizenship for undocumented immigrants, both causes on the basis of Constitutional law.

- Pioneering film producer/distributor W.W. Hodkinson was born in Pueblo, CO, in 1881. He got into the motion picture business early, opening a theater in Ogden, UT, in 1907. He was successful enough to buy out the only two other theaters in Ogden, then headed for the "big time" in Salt Lake City. He moved up from exhibiting films to distributing them, joining the General Film Co., opening offices in Los Angeles and San Francisco and eventually becoming one of the biggest distributors on the West Coast.
In 1914 he consolidated 11 film-rental firms into one company that could distribute films nationwide, and named it Paramount Pictures. Up until then films had been distributed mainly in two ways: (1) "states rights", in which producers would sell the rights to their films to a variety of local distributors in various areas of the country for a flat fee, and (2) "road show", which generally meant that a producer would show his film in a particular theater or theaters in an area himself and receive a certain percentage of the box-office receipts, then move on to the next city and do the same thing. Hodkinson came up with the concept of "block booking"--if exhibitors wanted a particular film they had to also agree to show a "block" of films from companies that had signed exclusive distribution agreements with Paramount. This meant that exhibitors could count on a steady supply of product for their theaters, producers were guaranteed a market for the films they produced, and because Paramount would help producers finance and promote their films--while taking a 35% distributors fee when they were ready for distribution--all parties involved stood to make money.
In 1916 producers Adolph Zukor and Jesse L. Lasky merged their companies into Famous Players-Lasky and--through what might be termed somewhat "shady" maneuvering--managed to buy out Paramount and merged their firms under the Paramount banner. Wanting to get the new company into producing as well as distributing films--which Hodkinson apparently didn't want to do--Zukor and Lasky forced him out, with Zukor becoming president of the company. After his ouster Hodkinson formed the W.W. Hodkinson Co., which produced and distributed films. That company later became Producers Distributing Corp., which lasted until 1929.
Hodkinson left the film business in 1929 and started an aircraft manufacturing company, Hodkinson Aviation Corp. He and a partner formed a company that began airline service in Guatemala, but an unfortunate series of plane crashes resulted in the company ceasing business and pulling out in 1936.
Hodkinson died at age 89 on June 2, 1971. - George Zaharias was born on 28 February 1909 in Pueblo, Colorado, USA. He was married to Harriet Apostolos, Betty Burgess and Babe Didrikson Zaharias. He died on 22 May 1984 in Tampa, Florida, USA.
